What We Were Up Against

A road development project near Neelmangala on the outskirts of Bangalore required earth retaining along a cut slope. The site had limited access for heavy machinery, and the retaining solution needed to be constructable with a small crew while handling significant lateral earth pressures.

02

How We Solved It

ViRaj Engineers designed a gabion earth retaining wall system that could be built incrementally with minimal equipment. The modular nature of gabion construction allowed the wall to be built in stages as the road cut progressed, with each lift designed to handle the earth pressures at that level.

What Was Delivered

The retaining wall was completed in stages alongside the road construction programme, avoiding any delays to the main works. The gabion system's flexibility and drainage performance made it the ideal choice for the site conditions, and the project was delivered within the client's budget.

Sometimes the best engineering solution is the one that works with the constraints, not against them.
