The Gera Misty Water residential development in Keshavnagar, Pune required a robust retaining wall solution along a sloped boundary. Conventional concrete walls were ruled out due to cost and drainage concerns. The solution needed to be structurally sound, aesthetically acceptable, and fast to build.
ViRaj Engineers designed and constructed a gabion retaining wall system using wire mesh baskets filled with locally sourced stone. The design accounted for hydrostatic pressure, surcharge loads from the residential structures, and long-term drainage performance. The natural stone finish also complemented the landscaping intent of the development.
The wall was completed on schedule and within budget. The gabion system provided excellent drainage performance, eliminating the risk of hydrostatic build-up behind the wall. The project became a reference for ViRaj's residential gabion capability in Pune.
“The right solution isn't always the most complex one. Sometimes, stone and wire is all you need.
